[Guest post] Astrid’s Christmas Traditions

Christmas for me is about leaving my home in Bergen and driving south – with a car full presents and stuff – to my hometown Sandnes to spend the holidays with my family and my in-laws’. I don’t decorate much in my own home; red candles, some holly and maybe some branches of ilex – and Christmas music, of course. Händel’s “Messiah” is my favorite. My parents’ and my in-laws’ houses are fully decorated though. The smell of spruce is a must, so is the smell of the traditional Christmas dinners; svineribbe at my parents’ and pinnekjøtt at my in-laws’. We dream of white Christmases, which are rare here on the west coast of Norway. We do however love our winter beach walks.

[Thanks Astrid, for sharing your Christmas traditions. If you want to read more about Astrid, visit her blog or see her beautiful photography at Flickr.]
